The terms and conditions apply to purchases and supplies of physical goods under contract from the supplier to either:
- hospital trust stock receipts and wards . Goods are purchased by region through the joint procurement and logistics system. The exception is where it has been agreed to use specialised systems or other preliminary systems, as specified in the request for tender or agreements with suppliers.
- or the individual health region’s regional supply centre. A regional supply centre serves as the region’s central warehouse and call-off orders for goods under contract are placed with these centres. The supply centre will deliver co-packaged deliveries of goods to its own hospital trusts (so-called regional ward-based logistics).
Each chapter will include specific requirements for deliveries to hospital trusts and to supply centres.
Specifically about the supply of pharmaceuticals: infusion, irrigating and dialysis solutions
- The supply of pharmaceuticals in categories covered by Section 13 (7) of the Regulations on the Wholesale Distribution of Medicines can be handled by regional supply centres if the region has a separate wholesale agreement. In such situations, the wholesale regulations will regulate which pharmaceuticals can be supplied through the regional supply centre in consideration of practicality. This pertains to product groups of particularly high volume, such as dialysis solutions, hemodialysis concentrates, infusion solutions, irrigation solutions and ready-to-use enteral nutrition products.
Each chapter may include special clauses concerning these pharmaceuticals. The term used in the appendices to the logistics terms and conditions is “pharmaceuticals”.
