Reasons why an application could be rejected |

| Incomplete application |
The application form is incomplete. Incomplete applications cannot be assessed. |

Mandatory attachments are missing.
Attachments cannot be submitted after the application deadline. |
|
| Format requirements |
Page limits for attachments have not been complied with.
The format requirements are described in the guidelines for the application categories. |
|
The application and/or attachments are written in Norwegian. The application and all attachments must be written in English. Norwegian may only be used where templates are provided in Norwegian. |
|
| Budget |
The budget has not been prepared in accordance with the guidelines for the application category.

| User involvement |
User involvement is not mentioned in the application. User involvement must be described in the project description. See the template for the project description.
|
| Project manager | The project manager does not hold a PhD. |
| The project manager is not employed in at least a 20% position at the applicant institution. | |
| The project manager has a primary position in another region or abroad. | |
| The project manager is above the upper age limit. |

| Annual quota |
The amount requested exceeds the annual funding cap per project manager.
Helse Sør-Øst RHF has set an upper annual limit for the allocation amount per project manager.This limit is NOK 4.5 million for 2026 and includes both ongoing and new research projects, regardless of application category. |
| Number of submitted applications |
The project manager has submitted too many applications. Each project manager may only submit one application.

| Identical or very similar applications |
Applications with identical or very similar project descriptions may be rejected. |
