In addition to the requirements in the ordinary announcement, the following specific guidelines apply:
- The project manager must be employed in at least a 50% position at the applicant institution.
- User involvement in the project is mandatory. This means that there must be genuine user involvement throughout the entire project period.
- Project managers who have been awarded strategic research funding for non-university hospitals in the last three years cannot receive new funding (applies to projects starting in 2024, 2025, or 2026).
- Each applicant institution can only be awarded strategic research funding for one project.
All applications are first assessed for support in the ordinary announcement. The highest-ranked applications from non-university hospitals that do not succeed in the competition for funding in the ordinary announcement will then be considered for the allocation of strategic research funding.
Among these applications, strategic research funding will first be awarded to non-university hospitals that have not received support for any applications in the ordinary announcement. The funds will then be allocated to other applications based on the highest score. Strategic significance for the service may also be given weight.
